4-Wheelin' to Bridge Mountain Trailhead

So Pam and I took the day off today (Monday, 4/19) to enjoy our new (well, new to us) truck by driving up to the trailhead of Bridge Mountain at Red Rock. Bridge Mountain has been my nemesis since my failed attempt to climb the last pitch at 10pm with 60mph wind with David Iroz about 6 years ago. I have vowed to revisit the climb and turn that failure into a success. I needed to know the condition of the road up there since it's been 6 years and the road is not maintained at all. It is definitely not for the faint of heart, and has some serious technical sections that could easily have resulted in high-centering the axles. However, my deer hunting days as a youth served me well and we successfully navigated to the trailhead. I'm way stoked! The truck performed flawlessly and is proving to be everything we wanted and more. And the bonus is that we are able to throw the dogs in the back bench seat so they can come along on whatever adventures Pam and I can create. Life is good!!! Once we reached the trailhead, we hiked up the trail for about 45 minutes until poor Bennett could take no more. You will notice in the pics of him and Pam that he is sitting in the shade. After 45 minutes of hiking uphill, every time he found shade on the trail, he would stop and sit down. I guess running 5 miles this morning and then hiking uphill for 45 minutes is his daily limit! LOL! Jake, however, was gungho and definitely up for the task!

Enjoy the pics...
