Colorado Roadtrip

Pam and I drove to Denver last week to attend Fay's award ceremony for Denver Univ. Law School Outstanding Alumni award. We had a great time with seeing family and being in the beautiful Denver area. We decided to drive so we could camp along the way. Going there, we stopped in Grand Junction and stayed in a KOA campground. (By the way, our version of "camping" is pulling the car into the camping spot, setting up the tent that has a total of 2 poles and takes 5 mins to set up, blowing up the air mattress, laying out the sleeping bags, and snuggling in! No cooking so we don't have to deal with cleanup! :D)

On the way home, we stopped in Glenwood Springs at a camping "resort" that lies along the Colorado River. It was awesome, our tent site was 20 feet from the banks of the river! So we get there at 10pm and set up in the dark and get all nestled in when all of a sudden we hear this INTENSE rumbling! We were like, "What the heck is THAT?!?!" So we unzip the tent window and look out just in time to see a coal train go by just across the river from us! Seriously, it was the loudest noise I think I have ever heard! And it lasted for like 10 minutes! We were like, "That was so cool!" Well, it wasn't too cool after the third train came through in the middle of the night! Every three hours we woke up to that intense noise! hahaha! But we still had a great time, and it makes for a great laugh now. :)
